The Black and White or Black and Silver flag is a symbol of economic hardship. It has appeared before in history and has been resurfacing because of our current political and economic climate. It is a sign of the times and a symbol of recession.

The Black bars represent the darkness and the hardship that the country has fallen into with the lack of transparency in leadership, war and economic turmoil. The White or Silver bars represent the light at the end of the tunnel, that things can be put right for the people. It is a symbol calling for change.

It is a sign of solidarity, that we the people; liberals, conservatives, black, white, brown, religious or atheist have to pull together as Americans despite our differences.

The Black and White/Silver flag is a sign that the recession and problems facing this nation are not “the other guys” problems, these are problems facing all of us. It is a symbol that we the people know what is holding us back and we are unified to stand together to change it.
